The new X-Men film directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts) is taking shape, with Marvel Studios busy defining the group of characters who will lead the cinematic relaunch of the mutants. Initially entrusted to Michael Lesslie, the screenplay is currently in the hands of Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear), tasked with revising the original material.

Among the names associated with the project are Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor - Cyclops, Inde Navarrette - Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. The cast would also include Christopher Abbott - Professor X, Samara Weaving - Emma Frost, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Asa Germann as Angel, and Peter Claffey as Beast.

Magneto and Polaris, the slots yet to be filled

For the role of Erik Lehnsherr, better known as Magneto, the name of Morgan Spector (Homeland: Caccia alla spia) is circulating, while Cailee Spaeny reportedly auditioned to play Polaris. At the moment, these are unconfirmed rumors. Filming is scheduled for early 2027, while Kevin Feige is already looking to build a true mutant saga.

The president of Marvel Studios emphasized how the X-Men's legacy goes far beyond Wolverine and the original lineup, anticipating the intention to explore characters from the Asia-Pacific region, with particular attention to China. The ambition is to extend the mutant narrative far beyond a single film, building a new chapter destined to occupy a central place in the future of the MCU.
