The X-Men are about to encounter one of science fiction's deadliest creatures. Alien Vs. X-Men is the new crossover miniseries announced by Marvel Comics, which will pit the mutants against Alien's Xenomorphs in a four-issue story. Alien Vs. X-Men #1 is set to debut on September 30, 2026, with Kieron Gillen on script, Geraldo Borges on art, and an additional story by Chris Claremont.

The starting point immediately brings together two central elements of the mythologies involved. The X-Men set out in search of a Phoenix egg, but return to Earth carrying something very different. Their cargo unleashes the arrival of the Xenomorphs and kicks off the clash between mutants and aliens, while Marvel also teases the intervention of an unexpected ally who could change the outcome of the battle.

For Gillen, it's also a particularly fitting return to his past on the X-Men. The writer of Immortal X-Men recounted his relationship with Alien dating back to his adolescence and considers Aliens one of the films that most contributed to his understanding of story structure. The project, he explained, is therefore something he had wanted to do for a long time.

However, the crossover contains a second story that makes the operation even more tied to the editorial history of the X-Men. Chris Claremont returns to Kitty Pryde and the Brood, the parasitic alien species introduced during his historic run on the mutants with Dave Cockrum. This time, Kitty will find herself in the middle of a confrontation between the Brood and the Xenomorphs, bringing two creatures face-to-face that share more than a few characteristics, despite belonging to narrative universes born separately. Claremont described this very encounter as one of the aspects that most attracted him to the project.

The choice is not random. The Brood debuted in the early 1980s and have become one of the X-Men's most recognizable extraterrestrial foes, with a biological cycle based on host infestation that has inevitably led to comparisons with the Xenomorphs over time. Alien Vs. X-Men finally transforms that similarity into a direct confrontation, with Kitty Pryde at the center of the parallel story.

The miniseries also continues Marvel's strategy of bringing its superhero universe together with 20th Century Studios properties. It follows Aliens Vs. Avengers by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, and Alien Vs. Captain America.

Alien Vs. X-Men #1 will consist of 40 pages and will have a cover price of $5.99 in the United States. In addition to Borges, updated credits also include David Messina, while several variant covers are planned for the first issue, by John Romita Jr., Alan Quah, Björn Barends, Ivan Shavrin, and Leinil Francis Yu, among others. The main cover is by Ryan Stegman.
