World of Warcraft: Midnight, Eclipse Brings Xal’atath to a Showdown with Azeroth

Blizzard unveiled Eclipse, World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.2, during BlizzCon 2026. It will be the next major update for the expansion and, most importantly, will accelerate the story of the Worldsoul Saga, which has now reached its central point.

In the official BlizzCon 2026 recap, Blizzard confirms that Xal’atath will be very close to her main objective: to seize Azeroth's World-Soul. After a long phase in which the narrative prepared characters and events for the final confrontation, Eclipse is expected to bring the conflict directly to the heart of the saga.

The short video shown during the event sees Xal’atath reaching a structure protected by an enormous titan, finally managing to overcome its defenses. Blizzard has not yet detailed the raids, zones, or new activities of 12.2, limiting itself for now to clarifying the narrative stakes.

Eclipse will also set the stage for The Last Titan, the third and final expansion of the Worldsoul Saga. Blizzard has anticipated that new information about the concluding chapter will arrive in early 2027.
