The House of the Dead Returns to Cinemas with Isabela Merced
In the past, there was the mediocre 2003 adaptation by German director Uwe Boll

The celebrated horror shooter The House of the Dead is set to return to the big screen with a new cinematic adaptation that aims to relaunch the franchise in grand style. This time, the project seems serious, both due to the names involved and the declared ambition to build something lasting.
The protagonist will be Isabela Merced, a rising actress, fresh from prominent roles in high-profile cinema and TV series (Superman 2025, Soldado, The Last of Us). Her selection signals a desire to focus on a recognizable face capable of sustaining a high-tension narrative of survival, fast pace, and horror.
Doing better than Uwe Boll should be easy

Directing and writing the screenplay is veteran Paul W. S. Anderson, a historic name when it comes to video game adaptations. Drawing on experience gained with sagas like Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil, Anderson will lead a project that aims to recapture the game's original spirit: fast zombies, continuous sieges, and no respite for the viewer.
For Sega, The House of the Dead represents a strategic priority. Following the cinematic successes related to Sonic the Hedgehog, the goal is an expansion into the horror genre, with a more adult and violent tone. If the adaptation manages to capture the urgency and tension that made the arcade game iconic, we could be at the beginning of a new cinematic saga.
