Street Fighter reboot - Rhodes and Reigns separated on set
Production organized work on set to avoid dangerous encounters as much as possible

The new cinematic adaptation of Street Fighter, arriving in theaters starting October 2026, reunites two of the most popular figures from WWE: Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns (Joe Anoa'i). The two performers, however, barely shared the set during filming.
Rhodes himself recounted this during an interview with Chris Van Vliet. The actor and WWE champion explained that production organized work on set to avoid encounters between him and Reigns as much as possible. This all stems from the famous rivalry the two have built over the past few years in the ring.
A very delicate rivalry to manage

According to Rhodes, production staff constantly communicated via radio the movements of the actors, signaling when “Guile” or “Akuma” entered or exited the filming areas. The result is that the two reportedly crossed paths only once, for a few moments, in what Rhodes described as a rather awkward moment. Their rivalry in WWE marked one of the most important chapters of the show in recent years: at WrestleMania 40, Rhodes indeed ended Roman Reigns' very long reign, which lasted over 3 years.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film aims to relaunch the famous video game franchise with a story set in the early 90s. At the center of the plot are Ryu and Ken, called back into action by Chun-Li to participate in the World Warriors Tournament. The cast also includes Jason Momoa (Blanka), 50 Cent (Balrog), and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.
