Psyvariar 3, new chapter of the shmup announced after more than 20 years

Developer Red Art Studios and publishers Red Art Games and Success have announced Psyvariar 3. Over the years, several re-releases of the original Psyvariar have been published, but a new chapter in the saga hasn't been released since 2003's Psyvariar 2: The Will to Fabricate. The title will feature seven selectable characters, including Cotton from the eponymous series as a guest, with seven areas for as many bosses, a dynamic difficulty level, various game modes, including 49 short challenges, and a "retro 3D" aesthetic inspired by the franchise's early games.

Psyvariar 3 will debut in 2026 on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Here's the announcement trailer.
