Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time shows Farah in a removed video
The princess wields a bow
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is one of those titles that the public awaits but never knows if and when it will truly arrive. Ubisoft announced the return of The Sands of Time in 2020, but four years later the only thing we've been shown is a very brief Teaser.
Hypothetically, the game is expected for 2026, but the fact that nothing has been shown for over a year and a half often raises suspicions of cancellation or at least a postponement - especially considering the corporate movements that the French-American company has undergone this year and the related postponements. Nevertheless, and despite assurances that the project is alive and well, we all wonder when we will see the "classic" Prince in action again.
Well, it seems someone managed to see something... the colleagues at The Game Post have reported the appearance online of a gameplay video which, as an unauthorized Leak, was quickly intercepted and removed from YouTube. It is said to be an internal Ubisoft presentation dated 2024, and naturally, it's possible that much of what it contained may not make it into the final game.
The most interesting thing about this video would be the fact that the character of Farah has been rewritten so as not to be the canonical damsel in distress but a woman ready to take action to fight against injustice.
Prince of Persia: The Remake's New Farah
"In this version [Farah] is described as a nineteen-year-old, cold-blooded, graceful, strong-willed, the eldest daughter of the Maharajah as well as an agile and trained archer - TGP writes - The Vizier is her former guardian, which establishes a shared past between the two. Her personality is outlined as righteous and honest, a woman who has spent most of her life preparing to become queen and determined to prove herself ready for that role. Her story focuses on how her time in the Prince's company changes her. At first, she is closed off and focused on her role, with a 'think twice, cut once' attitude. During their adventure together, she will slowly lower her guard, learn to trust him, and begin to accept that life does not revolve solely around responsibilities."
"The presentation also clarifies an important point: Farah is not a playable character, but she is certainly central to the story and gameplay."
A secondary character armed with a bow who assists the protagonist... where have we seen that before? Aside from the easy allusions, if this information is correct and maintained in the final work, it would confirm the theory that Ubisoft is not working on a 1:1 Remake of the original work but on a true reboot of the Prince's and the Sands' story. Obviously, however, the fact that the video has disappeared from the net makes us label everything as a Rumor and leaves us in the same state of waiting as yesterday...
