Apparently, The Pokémon Company will release Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch in just a few days. The GBA remakes of the first generation of pocket monsters will debut on the Nintendo hybrid console on February 27, coinciding with Pokémon Day.

This latest return to the Kanto region will support (not at day one) the Pokémon Home app, exclusive Sevii Islands content, and local wireless multiplayer just like back in the day (no, no mention of online). No new features or quality of life improvements are on the horizon, at least for now.

Now, you might be imagining that both titles will be part of the Nintendo Classics collection, included with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. But no, they will be standalone releases, at $19.99 (and therefore €20 for us) each. Was it really necessary? A mystery. True, you can buy them and keep them "forever," but the option wasn't unwelcome. Here's the announcement trailer.
