Pokémon Champions: Presentation and Release Date
A trailer introduces us to the main features of the game
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have shared a detailed presentation trailer for Pokémon Champions, which reviews the main aspects of the title. This video game centers the experience on duels between Pokémon trainers: the player will have to form a team of six Pocket Monsters and enter the arena to face another player online.
How to get Pokémon
There are two ways to obtain Pokémon to deploy in combat. The first is to access the Pokémon Home app, connect Pokémon games for Switch (or Pokémon GO) to it, to upload your Pokémon rosters to the app, then connect Pokémon Champions to the app and draw from the rosters. Alternatively, within the game, you can send one of your Pokémon to recruit others, thus receiving new ones, but only once a day. Those recruited will remain available for only one week.
How to battle
As mentioned above, before battling, the player will have to choose six Pokémon to bring into the arena. Before the battle begins, you will be able to see the opposing team and vice versa, so you can decide which Pokémon to deploy. The goal is very simple: whoever reduces the opponent's HP to zero wins. You can substitute a struggling Pokémon with a companion, or try to change the tide of the battle with a Mega Evolution. Battles can also take place with two Pokémon at a time per side.

Game modes
Pokémon Champions consists of three main modes: Ranked Battles, where you compete with other players to climb to the highest Rank. Casual Battles, where results are not recorded, so you can face random opponents in a relaxed manner. Private Battles, where you open an online room and only those with the ID (i.e., friends) can access it. Alongside these three modes, there will be special competitions, which change each season.
Victory Points
Now let's talk about the in-game currency of Pokémon Champions, Victory Points (VP). These can be used to improve a Pokémon's performance, giving it a new move or ability, changing its nature, improving individual stats, etc. But not only that, because VPs have other uses, for example, to purchase cosmetic items for the trainer. Or, by spending VPs, you can recruit Pokémon multiple times a day, and those recruited remain permanently available, not just for one week.
Where and when Pokémon Champions will be released
Pokémon Champions will be launched on the Nintendo Switch console on April 8, 2026. Later in 2026, the game will arrive on Android and iOS mobile devices. Pokémon Champions will be cross-platform, so Switch users can challenge mobile users and vice versa. The title will be a free-to-play game with microtransactions (it's no coincidence that the trailer focused on Victory Points).
