Netflix Rewrites Philip K. Dick: Radical Shift Coming
This is not a faithful adaptation of the writer's original work

The science fiction of Philip K. Dick returns to the screen, but this time with a clear deviation from well-trodden paths. Netflix has chosen to work on The World Jones Made, a novel that has long remained on the margins compared to the author's more famous writings, transforming it into a completely reimagined series.
However, this is not a faithful adaptation, as the project, titled The Future Is Ours, only takes the conceptual framework of the original work to build something closer to contemporary anxieties.
A Future Rewritten Between Environmental Crisis and Digital Faith

The story moves to South America, in 2047, in a scenario dominated by ecological collapse. At the center is no longer the Floyd Jones of the novel, but Jonás Flores, a charismatic figure who uses the internet to anticipate future events. A change that shifts the focus from pure determinism to information manipulation.
In the book, the ability to predict the future challenged politics and religion; here it becomes a tool capable of influencing masses in an already fragile context. Alien elements also disappear, a choice that accentuates realism and concentrates the narrative on human dynamics.
The precedent of major adaptations – from Blade Runner onwards – demonstrates that Dick works precisely when he is reinterpreted, and this new series follows the same logic: less fidelity, more topicality. If the operation is successful, it could mark a new way of adapting Dick, especially for an international audience.
