Marvel Wants Its Own True Detective: Here's the Possible Project
Interesting idea, especially since DC Studios is also aiming for a similar approach with Lanterns
What if Marvel Studios' next big hit was an investigative series? This is the hypothesis that emerged from the words of Jeff Sneider, who spoke of a project described as a "procedural" with an imprint close to True Detective. Sneider did not add any further details about the project, which for now remains shrouded in mystery.
The first candidate that spontaneously comes to mind is Jessica Jones. Krysten Ritter's character already has a strong investigative component and her own agency, Alias Investigations. A new project could leverage precisely that side of the character, shifting the MCU towards more criminal atmospheres and less tied to the usual global threats.
A Perfect Project for Jessica Jones?
However, it's not certain that Marvel has actually chosen Jessica Jones. The connection arises exclusively from the characteristics attributed to the mysterious project. The idea would still be interesting, especially since it would come at a time when DC Studios is also aiming for a similar approach with Lanterns, a series built around an investigation and repeatedly likened to True Detective.
For Marvel, this would be another possible path to differentiate its Disney+ productions. After the success of Werewolf by Night, the studio seems to have now demonstrated that it can use very different genres within its universe. An investigative thriller could be the next experiment.
