After Lord of the Underground, John Carpenter has released The Ferryman, the second track from Cathedral, a project that will combine a graphic novel with an album, conceived to be enjoyed together. The director and composer signs the music alongside his son Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, continuing a long and consolidated collaboration.

A project that unites music and graphic novel

The work will take shape through a 120-page graphic novel, created by Carpenter with Sandy King and Sean Sobczak, illustrated by Federico De Luca and Luis Guaragna. Each chapter of the volume will correspond to a track from the soundtrack, accompanied by notes that will guide the reader during listening, creating an integrated narrative experience.

Speaking about The Ferryman, Daniel Davies explained that the piece enhances the contribution of all three musicians, combining electronic harmonies, Carpenter's typical orchestrations, and a more heavy metal imprint, with the aim of achieving a powerful and direct sound.

The story of Cathedral, born from a dream of Carpenter's dating back to 2024, revolves around an abandoned cathedral, a murder, and a mysterious supernatural presence hidden in the catacombs of Los Angeles.

According to the director, the visual power of that nightmare pushed him to transform it into a project capable of merging story and music into a single experience.
