In Cold Light – Trailer for the thriller starring Maika Monroe
Hunted by those responsible for her twin sister's murder and tormented by a dark past

While awaiting They Follow, Maika Monroe returns to the big screen with In Cold Light, a thriller directed by Canadian filmmaker Maxime Giroux. Saban Films has released the first images, teasing a dark and visceral work that brings the actress from Longlegs back to a role marked by psychological tension and restrained violence.
A woman at war with the world and herself
The cast also features Troy Kotsur (Oscar winner for Coda) and an unrecognizable Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets), who join Monroe in a story centered on escape, survival, and a past impossible to ignore. The film will hit U.S. theaters starting January 23, 2026, marking one of the first thriller titles of the new year.
Ava is the protagonist, played by Monroe, who lives like a trapped animal: hunted by those responsible for her twin sister's murder and tormented by a trauma that pursues her everywhere she goes. The film follows her desperate struggle to find a way out, forcing her to a dramatic crossroads: continue to run or definitively transform into the strongest and most relentless version of herself.

The screenplay is penned by Patrick Whistler, who crafts a narrative where danger seems constant, with tension building with every choice the protagonist makes. In Cold Light seems to promise an intense journey into the heart of a woman at war with the world and her own ghosts.
A powerful return for Monroe after her foray as a rookie FBI agent in Longlegs and the remake of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, while many are waiting to see her in action in the sequel to It Follows.
