GTA 6 hit by hackers, new leak imminent
Another data theft has occurred, and the data may soon be online

Grand Theft Auto VI may well be remembered as one of the video games most plagued by information leaks. Going back to 2022, there was a sensational leak carried out by an autistic hacker, who was then confined to a healthcare facility indefinitely. In 2023, Rockstar was forced to share the game's very first trailer ahead of schedule, because it had leaked early online.
Last year, the American company fired between 30 and 40 employees for just cause. The reason? The sharing of confidential information on a forum also accessible to outsiders. But it's not over yet, because in the coming days, new rumors related to the most anticipated game in history, which have been stolen by a criminal group, could emerge online.

The new Grand Theft Auto VI leak
The group in question is called ShinyHunters and is a collective of hackers that targets the cloud infrastructures of large companies to steal their data and demand a ransom. A spokesperson for Rockstar confirmed that the company had suffered a theft, but also downplayed the incident, adding that this event will not have an impact on Rockstar, nor on players.
However, there will be further developments in the immediate future. The BBC managed to get in touch with ShinyHunters: the hacker group stated that Rockstar had not met its demands, so the data will be made public. We will see what emerges online in the coming days; in the meantime, we remind you that Grand Theft Auto VI will be launched on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
