Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix Series Returns to Steam
A milestone in motor racing simulations

Long-time racing game enthusiasts will undoubtedly remember the Grand Prix series, composed of four chapters released between 1991 and 2002. Thanks to graphics, physics, and realism that were very advanced for their time, these titles established themselves as a benchmark for Formula 1 simulations. Their author was the legendary British game designer Geoff Crammond, assisted by the MicroProse studio.

After many years, MicroProse and Crammond have reunited: the four aforementioned titles will be re-released on PC via Steam in 2026. For licensing reasons, the names of the games have been changed to Geoff Crammond Racing (GCR). The experiences will be faithful to the originals, with some updates and additional tools. Of note is the support for Steam Workshop, which will facilitate the arrival of mods for the games (and if you know the Grand Prix series, you probably also know how important mods have been).

Will there be a Grand Prix 5 in the future?
You can find more information in the press release from MicroProse. Apparently, the release of the games on Steam marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Geoff Crammond and MicroProse: there is also talk of future announcements for the series, but we do not know what they entail. Is it possible that a new chapter is being hinted at? If so, it would be necessary to understand Crammond's involvement in the project, as he has passed the age of 70.
