FZ: Formation Z, release date for the arcade shooter remake
Coming to PC and consoles in May
Granzella and City Connection have announced the release date for FZ: Formation Z, their remake of the eponymous scrolling shooter originally released in arcade cabinets (and some time later on 8-bit consoles) in the mid-80s. The title took a while to surface after initial details suggested a 2024 release, but it now appears set to debut on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on May 21st.
In Japan, Standard and Limited physical editions will also be available for Switch 2 (with the game entirely on cartridge) and PS5. The latter will include a 1:250 scale miniature of the "ABX-01 Ixpel Innocence" unit and a code to unlock the "R-9Aix Extra Arrow" ship from R-Type early. Here's the announcement trailer.
