The genesis of the remake of Fate/Extra has been quite troubled: the project has been postponed multiple times and even lost its publisher (Bandai Namco) along the way, but finally, light is visible at the end of the tunnel. During the State of Play, developer Type Moon shared a new trailer for Fate/Extra Record, which will reintroduce the audience to the experience of the first chapter of the JRPG series, in a renewed form with Unreal Engine 5.

Features of Fate/Extra Record

Fate/Extra Record narrates the events of a group of modern mages who battle on a digital battlefield to secure the Holy Grail, an artifact rumored to grant any wish. 128 mages, accompanied by as many familiars, compete for this treasure: players will have to explore a dungeon, strengthen their familiar, and create a deck of cards that allows them to triumph in strategic duels.

Where and When Fate/Extra Record Will Be Released

Fate/Extra Record has found a new publisher in the Japanese company Aniplex. The release date for Type Moon's next work is set for January 28, 2027 (the same day as Until Dawn 2). You can attempt to conquer the Holy Grail on PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders for physical editions are open, while those for digital editions will begin at a later date.
