Disgaea is a well-known and beloved series among tactical video game enthusiasts: born during the PlayStation 2 era, the creation of Japan's Nippon Ichi Software built its identity around turn-based grid combat. Fans might be a bit surprised by the new announcement the studio made with publisher NIS America: Disgaea Mayhem, an action-oriented spinoff.

The protagonist is a mercenary, identified by the initials N.A., who enters the service of Princess Tichelle: the former is attracted to money, while the latter… to desserts, but their partnership seems to work. In Disgaea Mayhem, players fight in real-time against various demons and six main antagonists, the Vassals. N.A. will be able to wield seven different types of weapons, summon demons himself, and naturally power up throughout the adventure, becoming increasingly stronger.
