Dezaemon, the 8-bit DIY shmup returns tomorrow on consoles

Hamster has announced the next game in the newly launched Console Archives series. It's Dezaemon, and it will be released tomorrow, February 19, on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. This is the first installment of the eponymous saga, developed by Athena for Famicom (the Japanese NES, which never made it to our region) in 1991.

It's a vertical-scrolling shooter with the unique feature of allowing players to create their own shmup from scratch, from spaceship sprites to enemy patterns, not to mention their own power-ups and even music and sound effects. This version also introduces quality of life features such as remappable controls, more save slots, rewind, filters, and more. Here's the announcement trailer.
