Among the announcements that outlined the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 held a completely unexpected moment. Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance on stage wearing an unprecedented gray version of the Deadpool costume, inspired by the X-Force comic book series, transforming the presentation into a sketch met with applause from Hall H.

Posing as a simple cosplayer, the actor addressed Paul Rudd with a question that recalled one of the most discussed scenes from Deadpool & Wolverine: why Thor was in tears. Rudd immediately picked up on the provocation, responding with a joke about Wrexham, the Welsh football team co-owned by Reynolds.

Deadpool Steals the Show at Comic-Con

Robert Downey Jr., now embodying Doctor Doom, ironically dismissed Deadpool's attempt to secure a spot in Avengers: Doomsday. When asked when filming would begin, the actor replied that the film had already been shot, leaving the character deliberately taken aback. Reynolds then insisted, asking if additional filming or last-minute insertions were planned, before taking his leave with one of his theatrical exits, to the audience's laughter.

Deadpool's participation in Avengers: Doomsday remains without official confirmation from Marvel Studios. Given the success of Deadpool & Wolverine and the fact that a new film dedicated to the character is already in development, the hypothesis of seeing him again in the next big crossover remains open.
