Deadpool 4 - Ryan Reynolds Breaks Silence on the Future
The actor revealed his sources of inspiration and confirmed he's working on new ideas
The future of Deadpool is back in the spotlight thanks to Ryan Reynolds. The actor confirmed that a fourth film dedicated to Marvel's most irreverent mercenary is in his plans, though without anticipating a release window or plot details.
During Fanatics Fest, Reynolds explained that he is working on new ideas, citing several authors who helped define the character in the comics as his source of inspiration. These include Fabian Nicieza, co-creator of Deadpool alongside Rob Liefeld, and Gerry Duggan, author of one of the most acclaimed interpretations of the hero in the modern era of Marvel Comics.
Reynolds Looks to Comics for the Next Chapter
The actor had previously hinted that he was writing an ensemble project, fueling speculation about the possible involvement of other characters from the Marvel universe. In recent weeks, rumors have circulated about a new X-Force, although Marvel Studios has not confirmed any plans in that regard at the moment.
Reynolds also reiterated that he does not see Deadpool as a permanent member of the Avengers or the X-Men, arguing that such an achievement would represent the character's ultimate goal. For now, Marvel Studios is keeping things under wraps, but at least Reynolds has clarified that the next chapter of Deadpool is not a question of "if," but "when."
