Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has shared a new trailer for Control Resonant, in which the developers illustrate the game's setting. The first Control takes place inside a building, an isolated space distinct from the rest of the world; in the sequel, things have changed significantly, and the crisis has spread to an open location, the district of Manhattan, which has been distorted by paranormal forces.

Control Resonant's Manhattan

Remedy has worked to make its virtual Manhattan feel like a lived-in place, credible, because by doing so, the supernatural aspect will stand out. As for inspiration, the developer drew from various media such as art, film, and TV, but not from other video games: Remedy observed a certain stylistic convergence among today's video games, which tend to resemble each other too much, while for Control Resonant, they are seeking something unique.

During his journey through this distorted Manhattan, protagonist Dylan Faden will be able to collect Audio Logs, listenable collectibles, and use a radio to report the singular events he witnesses to Zoe. Manhattan will be contested by the Hiss and Mold factions, which will be more or less present depending on the area; in Control Resonant, many more enemies will be encountered, some with truly peculiar designs (for example, one of them will resemble a bus…).

Control Resonant's release is still set for 2026. You will find Remedy Entertainment's new work on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Epic Games Store.
