Carrie - Teaser Reveals Mike Flanagan's Series
Opportunity to see events only hinted at in previous film adaptations
Prime Video took advantage of the stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to present the first teaser for Carrie, a new adaptation of Stephen King's famous novel, here helmed by Mike Flanagan. Built more on atmosphere than effects, the preview anticipates an approach strongly oriented towards psychological tension and also confirms the debut date: the miniseries will be available from October 7, with all eight episodes simultaneously.
The impression is that Flanagan wants to recover elements of the story that have remained on the margins of previous adaptations. While Brian De Palma's 1976 film became a classic of horror cinema, the television format offers more space to delve into characters and events that the feature film inevitably condensed.
The series aims for a faithful reinterpretation of the novel
Among the most anticipated aspects by fans is the possibility of seeing on screen sequences that have so far only been partially told, such as the devastation of Chamberlain described by Stephen King. If this direction is confirmed, the new Carrie could distinguish itself as the adaptation closest to the spirit and events of the 1974 novel.
The cast also includes several faces already associated with the director's works such as Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Matthew Lillard, Amber Midthunder, and Rahul Kohli. For Mike Flanagan, this marks another return to the Stephen King universe after the acclaimed adaptations of Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep, to which The Life of Chuck was more recently added.
