In 2026, the management of the Diablo franchise by Blizzard Entertainment will undergo significant acceleration through a coordinated plan of digital and editorial releases. The central point of this strategy is the launch of Lord of Hatred, the second expansion for Diablo IV, scheduled for April 28, 2026. The new content will focus on Mephisto and introduce the region of Skovos, as well as two new character classes, in an attempt to expand current gameplay mechanics.

In parallel, the company has partnered with Titan Comics for the publication of Diablo: Dawn of Hatred, a miniseries in four issues set to debut on April 22, 2026. The project, entrusted to writer Cullen Bunn and illustrator Daniele Serra, was not conceived as a mere spin-off, but as a canonical piece of the official chronology. The narrative is precisely set between the conclusion of Vessel of Hatred and the beginning of the new expansion, addressing the need to deepen an ending that part of the community had deemed premature.

At the heart of the comic's plot is the return of Akarat, a legendary figure of the Zakarum faith, whose presumed resurrection divides the inhabitants of Sanctuary. Through the perspective of Derris, a skeptical barbarian belonging to the Fox Tribe, the series will explore the religious and political tensions preceding the confrontation with the Lord of Hatred. The first issue, 32 pages long, will be sold for $4.99, followed by monthly releases that will accompany players throughout the summer of 2026.
