Blade Runner 2099 and the Prime Video series trailer

Prime Video returns to the world of Blade Runner with the first trailer for Blade Runner 2099, the series that expands the celebrated sci-fi saga by setting the story fifty years after the events of Denis Villeneuve's film.

Los Angeles 50 years in the future is a profoundly changed metropolis after the events that reshaped the relationship between humans and replicants. Moving through this new scenario are Cora (Hunter Schafer), forced to constantly change her identity, and Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a Blade Runner who belongs to the very species she is supposed to hunt. Their encounter will become intertwined with a conspiracy destined to challenge the fragile balance of the megalopolis.

More than just continuing the story told in Blade Runner 2049, the series seems to want to shift the point of view, depicting a world where the conflict between humans and replicants has taken on completely new dimensions. The stated goal is to expand the absolute myth created by Master Ridley Scott, exploring aspects of society and the narrative universe that cinema had only touched upon.

The project also looks to the saga's roots, drawing inspiration from Philip K. Dick's novel that inspired the 1982 masterpiece. The trailer hints at familiar atmospheres, but also a visual and narrative identity that aims to guide the Blade Runner universe into a new phase.
