Over forty years after the release of Ridley Scott's masterpiece, the future of Blade Runner is once again in motion with two new projects aiming to relaunch one of the most influential sci-fi universes ever.

The most anticipated is undoubtedly Blade Runner 2099, a new live-action series destined for Prime Video and slated for 2027. Set after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the production will introduce new characters and new conflicts within a society increasingly dominated by technology and replicants.

The cast features Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, protagonists of a story that seems to want to maintain the existential and melancholic tone typical of the saga.

Blade Runner's Cyberpunk Becomes Immersive

Alongside the series, an augmented reality project has also been announced, developed by Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studios. The goal is to transform the saga's cyberpunk aesthetic into a multisensory experience capable of transporting the audience into the rainy and decadent atmospheres imagined by Scott.

After years of silence following the critical but not commercial success of Blade Runner 2049, the saga seems ready to reclaim its place at the center of contemporary science fiction.
