Chris Hemsworth has chosen a very different project from the major productions that made him famous. Through his production company Wild State, the Australian actor will develop a film inspired by the Finke Desert Race, a historic off-road competition that annually attracts riders and enthusiasts to the heart of the Outback.

The race connects Alice Springs to the community of Aputula, better known as Finke, along a route that severely tests vehicles and participants. Dust, high temperatures, and continuous unforeseen events are part of a challenge that has become a symbol of Australian motorsport since its inception in 1976.

A Grueling Race in the Heart of the Australian Desert

Wild State has secured an exclusive agreement with the event organizers to develop various content related to the event. The main project will be a feature film starring Hemsworth himself, while the screenplay will be entrusted to Ricky Staub and Dan Walser, already authors of Concrete Cowboy.

The initiative will not stop at cinema. A docuseries dedicated to the world of the Finke Desert Race is also planned, with the participation of freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison. For Hemsworth, this is also a personal choice. The actor explained that he grew up in a family always passionate about off-road competitions, a connection that has contributed to making this new project particularly significant.
