Alien: Ridley Scott Reopens David's Chapter

After nine years of silence, Ridley Scott is once again talking about the sequel to Alien: Covenant. The director confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the third film in the trilogy inaugurated by Prometheus is back in development and it seems it will bring David, the android played by Michael Fassbender, back to the center.

Scott hinted that the story will follow him as he tries to build "a new world for himself." A phrase that directly refers to the conclusion of Covenant, when the synthetic assumes Walter's identity and takes control of the colonial ship along with the embryos destined for the mission.

David Hasn't Finished His Experiment Yet

The project is still in its early stages: no cast, director, or release date have been announced. Fassbender, however, is the natural candidate to return as David, a character Scott still considers rich in potential. The director also linked his interest to the theme of artificial intelligence: "AI can go out of control. And if it does, it's like a bomb."

The new story could therefore finally pick up the thread left hanging in 2017, with David free to continue his experiments and thousands of colonists asleep in the hold of the Covenant. The hope is for a production aimed at the big screen.
