Above The Below, the first trailer with Idris Elba
Every attempt brings new risks, as time runs out
Three astronauts survive a catastrophic re-entry to Earth, but the worst is yet to come. The first trailer for Above The Below shows a survival mission in the depths of the ocean, where a damaged capsule risks becoming a deadly trap.
Without communications and with oxygen reserves depleting, the protagonists must find a way to reach the surface. Every attempt brings new risks, as time runs out and the possibility of rescue appears increasingly remote.
Idris Elba: Directing and Extreme Survival
The sci-fi thriller is directed by Idris Elba alongside Martin Owen. For the British actor, this marks a new commitment behind the camera after Yardie, his directorial debut in 2018. The cast also includes Caitlin FitzGerald, previously seen in Masters of Sex and Succession, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, known for the romantic After saga.
The screenplay is penned by Matt Mitchell, Elizabeth Morris, and Vicki Sargent. The film focuses on claustrophobia and the race against time, with characters forced to make extreme decisions to avoid dying trapped at the bottom of the sea.
