A Christmas Carol – Johnny Depp Returns to Hollywood
Oscar-nominated actress Andrea Riseborough co-stars alongside Depp

Johnny Depp is preparing his return to Hollywood with A Christmas Carol - Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, a new and dark reinterpretation of Charles Dickens's classic directed by Ti West, known for his horror trilogy X (X, Pearl, and MaXXXine). Described as a compelling ghost story set in Victorian London, the film will follow the supernatural journey of a man forced to confront his past, present, and future in search of redemption.
Alongside Depp, in a co-starring role, will be Oscar-nominated actress Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie). The adaptation promises to combine West's typical gothic charm with the melancholic and moral atmosphere of Dickens's tale, first published in 1843 and adapted for the screen multiple times, from classic versions to the musical comedy Spirited in 2022 with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.
A Different Reinterpretation of a Dickens Classic

For Depp, the film Ebenezer marks his second major production after the media frenzy with Amber Heard. The actor, who recently finished Marc Webb's Day Drinker for Lionsgate – alongside Penélope Cruz and Madelyn Cline – thus returns to American cinema after years of absence, set to be released in theaters on November 13, 2026.
But the actor's grand return remains linked to the multi-billion dollar Pirates of the Caribbean franchise: according to rumors, Disney is considering his return as Jack Sparrow in the sixth installment.
