Marshals, everything we know: the Yellowstone sequel that changes everything
Kayce Dutton returns as the protagonist in Marshals, a Yellowstone spin-off that sees him join the U.S. Marshals.

When a series like Yellowstone concludes, the rupture isn't just narrative. It's cultural. A story that built a recognizable imaginary, a contemporary mythology of land, blood, and power, comes to an end. Marshals, the new spin-off created by Spencer Hudnut, emerges from this void and chooses the less reassuring path: not just continuing a family saga, but reshaping its identity. In this article, we analyze all available information.

The plot of Marshals
The new series opens with Kayce Dutton now far from the Yellowstone Ranch. The former Navy SEAL decides to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals active in Montana, putting his experience gained in both military and ranch management to the service of the law.

The heart of the story is the constant tension between institutional duty and private life. Kayce and his companions operate as the last line of defense in a region plagued by violence, paying a psychological price that affects their lives. Alongside their professional mission, the bond with his son Tate and with historical allies like Thomas Rainwater and Mo, from the Broken Rock reservation, remains central.
The cast of Marshals: actors and actresses
Luke Grimes (Yellowstone, Brothers & Sisters, True Blood, Fifty Shades of Grey) returns as Kayce Dutton, a character already central in Yellowstone. Also returning are Gil Birmingham (Eternals, Twilight, Animal Kingdom) as Thomas Rainwater, Mo Brings Plenty (Jurassic World Dominion) as Mo, and Brecken Merrill (This is Us, Lifeline) as Tate Dutton.
New additions include Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Logan Marshall-Green, who play Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, Miles Kittle, and Pete Calvin, respectively. Brett Cullen appears in a recurring role as Harry Gifford, a figure connected to the Montana Marshals corps.
The series is written and led by Spencer Hudnut, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Taylor Sheridan, creator of the Yellowstone universe, is also among the executive producers.
When does Marshals come out in Italy?
In the United States, Marshals debuts on CBS on March 1, 2026, in prime time on Sunday. For international audiences, the release is scheduled on Paramount+ from March 2, including Italy, under the title Marshals: A Yellowstone Story.

Where to watch Marshals streaming?
In Italy, the series will be available on Paramount+, which distributes the new chapter of the franchise outside the United States. In the United States, in addition to airing on CBS, episodes will be accessible for streaming on the same platform.
From Yellowstone to Marshals
Marshals is configured as a direct continuation of the concluding events of Yellowstone. In the final season of the mother series, Kayce made a crucial decision for the future of the Duttons and the ranch, choosing a path that seemed to definitively distance him from the conflicts that had marked his existence.

The new project picks up from that point, but shifts the narrative axis. If Yellowstone was a drama set in the world of ranches and territorial struggles, Marshals adopts the structure of a procedural focused on law enforcement activities, while maintaining Montana as a backdrop and some of the franchise's key characters.
The series is part of a broader narrative universe, which includes other spin-offs already produced and announced projects, confirming the desire to further expand the saga.
The Marshals trailer
CBS released the full trailer for the series in January 2026. The images show Kayce grappling with a new phase of his life, marked by joining the Marshals and a climate of high tension.
