The new direction for the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a concrete phase, aiming to clearly distinguish itself from the past. Leading the charge is Jake Schreier, who has brought in Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo to rework the script: a sign that the project will undergo profound transformations compared to earlier versions.

Among the most significant rumors is the possible initial exclusion of Wolverine. This decision, if confirmed, would represent a major break from the Fox era, where the character played by Hugh Jackman dominated the scene.

The absence of Logan would allow for a return to group centrality, preventing figures like Cyclops and Jean Grey from remaining in the background. The goal seems to be to build a true ensemble identity, more faithful to the spirit of the comics.

A reboot that changes perspective

Schreier has indeed stated that he is inspired by Chris Claremont's historic run on Uncanny X-Men, known for its focus on internal dynamics and emotional conflicts. In this vision, the team becomes a complex family, not just a superhero squad.

On the narrative front, there is talk of antagonists like Mister Sinister and Apocalypse, with a plot that could revolve around the bond between Scott Summers and Jean Grey. This choice suggests a more structured approach, less dependent on individual protagonists.

The audience remains an unknown factor: is foregoing, even temporarily, Wolverine a courageous move, or will it unleash too many negative reactions?
