Vision Quest and Ultron's Return to the MCU
The rebellious artificial intelligence will be voiced by the same American actor in the original version
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, this time also looking to its own past. During the Vision Quest panel at New York Comic Con 2025, fans finally received official cast confirmations and, most importantly, the return of one of the saga's most fascinating and underutilized villains: Ultron.
Marvel has indeed announced that James Spader will reprise his role as the rebellious artificial intelligence, which he previously played in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). This news was met with enthusiasm by fans, who hope to finally see the character's full potential on screen.
More Space for the Beloved Villain
The series cast also includes Henry Lewis as DUM-E in human form, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as JARVIS, Orla Brady as FRIDAY, and Emily Hampshire as Edith. But the final surprise of the trailer shown in preview was the appearance of young Italian-Scottish actor Ruaridh Mollica, identified as Thomas Shepherd, a key figure in Vision's future narrative.
With Vision Quest, Marvel seems intent not only on expanding the universe of synthetics but also on redeeming one of its most iconic villains, bringing Ultron back to center stage where, according to many fans, he always deserved to be.
