Twisted Metal 3: Mark Hamill to be Sweet Tooth's Father
Kane's arrival is a solid step forward in expanding the series' mythology
The third season of Twisted Metal adds a prominent name to its cast. Mark Hamill, not only Luke Skywalker but also acclaimed for his numerous villainous portrayals, has been chosen to play Charlie Kane, a figure destined to have a significant impact on the events of the new episodes.
Kane will be the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty, a powerful faction that controls part of the post-apocalyptic territories of former New York. But the most interesting detail concerns his relationship with Sweet Tooth: the character will in fact be the biological father of the famous killer clown.
A Direct Link to Sweet Tooth
The revelation was anticipated in the post-credit scene of the second season, when Sweet Tooth was captured and dragged into a yellow taxi, only to recognize at the last instant the identity of his captor. Kane's arrival further expands the series' mythology, drawing inspiration from a character already known to long-time Twisted Metal players, although reinterpreted very differently from the original video games.
The new season will also bring a change behind the scenes. David Reed, a writer who has worked on productions such as The Boys, Supernatural, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, will take over Michael Jonathan Smith's legacy as the creative lead of the show. The upcoming episodes will pick up after the tournament organized by Calypso, introducing new alliances and new adversaries.
