The Witcher 3 Remastered arrives September 29, and it's free (but not for everyone)

CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will arrive on September 29, 2026, while a first look at the new expansion Songs of the Past was also shown during Gamescom's Opening Night Live.

The Remastered will be a free update for those who already own the game on eligible platforms, and brings with it a long list of improvements: revamped visuals, enhanced combat, improved movement, new effects for the witcher's signs, revised mount management, more evolved monster behavior, a redesigned skill tree, transmogrification, expanded photo mode, new finishers, and much more. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The real news is its arrival on two completely new platforms: a native version for Nintendo Switch 2 (pre-orders already open) and, thanks to a new partnership between CD Projekt RED and Blizzard Entertainment, also on Battle.net — both from September 29.

Furthermore, all owners of the game will now have free access to the two critically acclaimed expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

On the front of new content, the teaser for Songs of the Past unveiled Letten, a new region with rural and folkloric charm, made of abundant harvests and lavish festivals — but which hides a dark secret beneath the surface. Geralt will have to face never-before-seen enemies to defeat a long-dormant evil.

The paid expansion will release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and is already available for wishlisting on selected platforms.
