The Playerbase: Fans Enter PlayStation Games
Sony wants to insert a virtual version of fans into its titles

Here on the pages of Gamesurf, we often talk about actors who lend their likenesses to video game characters: an excellent example of this is Death Stranding 2, which boasts a star-studded cast and was recently released on PC. If we then look at sports titles, the practice of creating virtual models based on real people is now an almost indispensable custom for most simulations.
The Playerbase: When the Player Enters the Game
But what if, in addition to these famous professionals, the faces of ordinary fans also appeared in games? PlayStation's new initiative opens up to this scenario. Sony has introduced The Playerbase, a campaign aimed at fans, who will have the opportunity to appear within a PlayStation Studios game in the near future, after receiving a digital scan of their physical appearance.

Gran Turismo 7 Leads the Way
The first game to participate in The Playerbase will be Gran Turismo 7: PlayStation will conduct a selection that will lead the winner to have their in-game portrait for a limited period, and to help design an original logo and livery. The lucky winner will be invited to the Los Angeles studio for scanning and designs. This is therefore a kind of experimentation, and if things go well with GT7, other games should follow; if you want to try to participate, you can sign up at Playstation.com/the-playerbase.
