The Flood: Zach Cregger Looks to Kubrick's Space

After Resident Evil, Zach Cregger's next project is titled The Flood and promises to take the director into different narrative territory, without abandoning the unsettling atmosphere that characterized his previous works. Cregger has described The Flood as an experimental sci-fi production, clarifying that it is not a true horror film.

However, the director has hinted at atmospheres capable of causing unease, going so far as to call it the most disturbing project of his filmography. This statement is intriguing, especially considering the path he began with Barbarian and continued with Weapons. The project is currently in the early stages of development, with casting underway. Actual preparation is expected to begin in February, while filming is scheduled for summer 2027.

Cregger Aims for Experimental Sci-Fi

A new foray into science fiction, with a significant reference to Stanley Kubrick's cinema. Among the few available previews, Cregger specifically cited 2001: A Space Odyssey as a reference for certain parts of the film, suggesting an experimental approach to sci-fi.
