Zach Cregger wants to tell Gotham's story through the eyes of those who have no chance of surviving its vigilantes and criminals. The director of Resident Evil has written the screenplay for Henchman, centering on a pharmacist accidentally caught in the clash between Batman and Joker.

The protagonist is not a fighter, nor an aspiring vigilante, but an ordinary man who finds himself entangled in a much larger affair. Interviewed by Men's Health, Cregger clarified that the project is not focused on Joker and Harley Quinn, downplaying some rumors circulating online. The idea stems from the desire to observe Gotham's events from a perspective rarely explored on the big screen.

Cregger's Vision Also in the DC World

Speaking also with A Shot Magazine, the director reiterated his interest in intimate stories, focusing on ordinary people overwhelmed by events larger than themselves. An approach reminiscent of the one adopted in Resident Evil, where an ordinary man finds himself trapped in an extreme situation.

For Henchman, the decisive obstacle remains to be overcome: the project has not yet received the green light from DC Studios. An agreement with James Gunn is not even confirmed. The proposal could accompany The Brave and the Bold, the film destined to introduce Batman into the new DC universe, but for now the fate of this script, which promises to be original and unconventional, remains uncertain.
