After almost ten years of absence from the big screen, Leprechaun returns to Lionsgate's plans. The Studio has put a new film in the horror saga back into development and has entrusted the screenplay to Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the authors of several films in the Saw series and The Collector.

The project is still shrouded in mystery: the plot and nature of the film have not been revealed, which could be a reboot, a new chapter, or a reinterpretation of the original story. Production will be handled by Oren Koules and Miles Koules through Koulest Productions.

Leprechaun returns seeking redemption

The last film in the saga arrived in 2018 and is directly connected to the 1993 film. Before that, the series had experimented with every possible variation on the theme, even taking the bloodthirsty leprechaun into space. The first film also helped to make known a very young Jennifer Aniston.

The character became famous especially thanks to Warwick Davis, who played the Leprechaun in 6 films. After him, the role passed to Dylan Postl in Leprechaun: Origins and to Linden Porco in the 2018 chapter. It is not yet known if Davis will return as the protagonist. Director, cast, and a release date are also missing. The new film will therefore bring the bloodthirsty leprechaun back to the big screen, almost ten years after the last chapter of the saga.

A total of 8 films have been made to date: Leprechaun (1993), Leprechaun 2 (1994), Leprechaun 3 (1995), Leprechaun 4 - In Space (1997), Leprechaun 5 - In the Hood (2000), Leprechaun 6 - Back 2 tha Hood (2003), Leprechaun: Origins (2014), Leprechaun Returns (2018). We hope that the restart will allow us to learn from the mediocrity of the past, relaunching the character.
