The Blood of Dawnwalker continues to show us gameplay
A new, in-depth look, picking up where the previous one left off
Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Rebel Wolves have shared another long gameplay trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, their dark fantasy medieval action/RPG. This new in-depth look continues the explanation begun with the previous trailer and picks up the game where it left off, but shows us an alternative approach to the quest that had not been completed.
The narrative sandbox structure
Rebel Wolves confirms the adoption of an open structure for The Blood of Dawnwalker, called a narrative sandbox: thanks to it, the various missions can be tackled in different ways, with access to different narrative outcomes. To demonstrate this, the quest from last time is revisited, but by making different choices. While then the protagonist Coen infiltrated at night and immediately engaged in combat (which ended badly…), he now opts for dialogue with NPCs.
This new approach allows him to access an optional quest, which leads him to search for a guardian. The open narrative dimension of the structure emerges where Coen receives more information about the world, including rather gruesome backstories. The side quest does not have a happy ending and we are shown a fight with an opponent with unpredictable behavior, but at least Coen gets what he needs to continue.
The passage of time
Another interesting aspect that is pointed out to us is the progression of time, which only moves forward when an important event occurs, for example, when Coen engages in a specific dialogue. As last time, the mission reaches the night phase, but before the boss fight, one can decide to play it smart and look for something that can help in the difficult battle.
By searching a bit, another side quest will be accessed, which will allow one to obtain a powerful sword, but not before eliminating other enemies. We remind you that The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released in 2026. We will be able to play as the vampire Coen on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
