Spider-Noir - New Clues About the Prime Video Series
Nic Cage drawn to the allure of Golden Age Hollywood stars like Bogart or Cagney
At CCXP Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil, one of the most unexpected protagonists was Spider-Noir, a project that marks the arrival of the Spider-Verse in a dark and “old school” version on Prime Video. The new poster that appeared immediately piqued the curiosity of fans, who are eagerly awaiting to see Nicolas Cage as the enigmatic hero.
The series consists of 8 episodes and brings to the screen a reinterpretation of the character set in a world with strong noir influences, where the protagonist – a private investigator named Ben Reilly – moves among shadows, corruption, and supernatural threats. The choice to use Ben, a figure traditionally linked to the Clone Saga, has divided fans, although there currently seem to be no plans to adapt that storyline.
Between James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart
Cage said he was attracted to the project's more stylized and less violent tone, comparing it to a pop art piece inspired by Lichtenstein's aesthetic, but also to the allure of Golden Age Hollywood stars like Bogart or Cagney. Harry Bradbeer will direct the first episodes, while Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will be the showrunners.
The supporting cast is extensive and includes, among others, Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston. With a trailer expected soon, Spider-Noir is set to become one of the most talked-about titles of 2026.
