Peter Parker is Alone: What We Know About Spider-Man: Brand New Day
No one remembers Peter Parker anymore. Brand New Day finds him alone in New York, as his powers change and a new threat emerges.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will bring Peter Parker back to cinemas after a five-year hiatus. The film will directly continue the story of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it will do so within a profoundly changed scenario. The protagonist, played by Tom Holland, can no longer rely on the people who knew his identity, while his relationship with the mask also seems destined to become more problematic.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the new chapter has been presented as the beginning of a different phase for the character. At the heart of the story will be a more adult Spider-Man, called to face the consequences of the choice made at the end of the previous film.
The Plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man will face a new adventure, but this time everything will be different.
How does Spider-Man: No Way Home end?
The starting point of Brand New Day coincides with the sacrifice made by Peter Parker at the end of No Way Home. To stop the crisis caused by the opening of the multiverse, Doctor Strange casts a spell that erases Peter from everyone's memory.
The world continues to remember Spider-Man and his exploits, but no one knows who is hiding under the mask anymore. MJ retains no memory of their relationship. Even Ned has forgotten the friend with whom he had shared his high school years and numerous battles.
Peter decides not to reveal the truth to them. He moves into a small apartment and tries to rebuild his life without the support of the Avengers. The personally sewn suit, shown in the last images of the film, already anticipates a return to a more independent dimension.
What is the new chapter about?
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be set four years after the events of No Way Home. Peter lives alone and has almost entirely given up his civilian identity. His existence now revolves around fighting crime on the streets of New York.
This absolute dedication, however, begins to have consequences. The accumulated pressure causes an unexpected evolution of his powers, described as potentially dangerous. At first, Peter fears that the change could transform him into something uncontrollable.
Meanwhile, the protagonist investigates a new sequence of crimes that will lead to the appearance of various adversaries from the comics.
When is Spider-Man: Brand New Day released in Italy?
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in Italian cinemas on July 29, 2026. The initially announced date was June 27, 2025, later moved to July 24, 2026. The release was then postponed by another week to increase the distance from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, scheduled for July 16.
The film will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Principal photography began in August 2025 in Glasgow, used to recreate some areas of New York. Filming continued in England, including Pinewood Studios, and concluded in December of the same year. Additional filming was carried out in April 2026.
The Cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker. Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, while Jacob Batalon will once again play Ned Leeds.
Among the most interesting additions is Sadie Sink, whose role has not yet been officially clarified. Jon Bernthal will play Frank Castle, known as Punisher. Mark Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner and Hulk.
The cast will also include Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger, head of the Department of Damage Control. Marvin Jones III will be the criminal Lonnie Lincoln, known as Tombstone, while Liza Colón-Zayas will play Detective Jean DeWolff.
How Spider-Man: Brand New Day Will Change the MCU
The film is expected to scale down the scope of Peter's adventures compared to the multiversal events of No Way Home. Kevin Feige explained that the new chapter will finally show the protagonist as an autonomous Spider-Man, primarily engaged in fighting urban crime.
The presence of Punisher will connect the film to the narrative dimension of Daredevil: Born Again. During production, the respective creative teams maintained a dialogue to ensure consistency for shared events.
Hulk will strengthen the link with the rest of the MCU, although the story will remain focused on Peter's personal crisis. Amy Pascal has also indicated Brand New Day as the possible first chapter of a new trilogy starring Tom Holland.
