SPARK! PHOTON BLAST, post-apocalyptic sports game announced for PC and PS5
Releasing in 2026 and playable at TGS 2025
Japanese independent studio Design Act has announced SPARK! PHOTON BLAST. It's an action-sports game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Played within virtual spaces, matches see teams of players (the number is not specified) compete to launch a "photon ball" into the opposing team's goal. If not intercepted by the other team, the ball will bounce off walls, powering up, until it enters "SPARK!!" mode, with which it can literally destroy rival avatars.

It's difficult to get a clear idea of the gameplay with the limited material available, but it seems there will be multiple storylines, along with the ability to customize one's avatar and unlock accessories. SPARK! PHOTON BLAST will be released in 2026 on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5 and will be playable at the Indie Game Corner of the Tokyo Game Show 2025, between September 25 and 28. Here's the announcement teaser.
