Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Jane Levy (Evil Dead, 2013) star in River, a horror film directed by Joshua Giuliano set to debut in US cinemas on January 15, 2027, under the Blumhouse label. The first trailer introduces a survival story set along an isolated river.

After their father's death, three siblings return to their hometown to scatter his ashes in his favorite spot. However, the boat trip takes a sinister turn when a breakdown leaves them unable to call for help. A man with a massacred body appears on the bank, ready to hunt them down.

Slasher with echoes of Deliverance

Already a star of Happy Death Day, Rothe acts alongside Levy, known for Evil Dead (2013). The cast also includes Max Mattern, while Dane DiLiegro, seen in Prey, plays the killer.

Presented in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival, the film attracted the interest of Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, who acquired the distribution rights. Production involves Steven Schneider, through Spooky Pictures, Nick Antosca, and Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat. The first images suggest a work that seems to deserve a big-screen release, but for the Italian market, no release date has been announced yet.
