The crucial point of the production remains Johnny Depp and his legendary Jack Sparrow

After years of stalemate, contradictory rumors, and projects that never took off, Pirates of the Caribbean is officially making headlines again. Disney has put the saga back among its strategic priorities and Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is once again in active development, with a clear idea: not a simple sequel but a new narrative course.

The central point inevitably remains Johnny Depp. Jack Sparrow was the beating heart of the series, and Disney knows it well. No confirmation of his return, but no outright denials either. A gray area that leaves the door open for a limited or symbolic appearance, useful for connecting past and future.

If Disney dares to truly innovate...

On the creative front, the project has taken a concrete step with the involvement of Krysty Wilson-Cairns, a choice that suggests a desire to strengthen the writing and not limit itself to pure spectacle. The most accredited idea is to shift the point of view to a new generation of characters, without completely erasing the saga's historical legacy.

Gore Verbinski, director of the first chapters, will not return, as he is now distant from productions with strong industrial control. Even the hypothesis of a spin-off with Margot Robbie seems currently frozen. The challenge now seems to be: innovate without betraying. If Disney dares to truly innovate, we might find ourselves with more than just a simple nostalgia operation on the horizon.
