Phantom Blade Zero is an action/RPG set in a dark fantasy universe inspired by Eastern folklore, under development by the Chinese studio S-Game. Announced in 2023, this title tells the story of Soul, a warrior with only 66 days left to live and hunted by his comrades. To uncover the conspiracy against him, Soul must defeat many enemies, using over 30 weapons and 20 Phantom Edges (special secondary weapons).
Phantom Blade Zero is a Wuxia Game
In the new trailer, director Liang Qiwei discusses various aspects of the work, starting with its affinity for Wuxia, which is the romanticized representation of Chinese martial arts found, for example, in Hong Kong cinema. Phantom Blade Zero faithfully reproduces martial arts like kung-fu, recreating them through motion capture sessions: this element is so important that the game's style has been defined as "kungfupunk".
Where and When Phantom Blade Zero Will Be Released
In the video, the director of Phantom Blade Zero mentions that the studio is refining the game, a sign that development is now nearing completion. The release date for Phantom Blade Zero is set for September 9, 2026. You will find this Wuxia title on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
