Obsidian Removes Games from Stores Due to Unity Flaw
A serious vulnerability, possibly hidden for over eight years
A security vulnerability in the Unity game engine has been identified recently, a problem that has affected all versions from Unity 2017.1 onwards. Fortunately, there are no reports of exploits or breaches, but keep in mind that Unity 2017.1 was released in July 2017, so it's possible that the defect in question has been present for over eight years, exposing thousands and thousands of games to risk.
The news was given to us by Lawrence Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, who now manages the Unity community after being an Xbox institution for years. Hryb also informs us that Unity has already taken steps to release patches that eliminate the vulnerability, although it is essential for individual game developers to update their titles.
