Metro 2039: New Renegade Trailer at Gamescom Unveils The Stranger and Collector's Edition
4A Games shows in-engine stealth gameplay of The Stranger in Novoreich-occupied Moscow: releasing February 2027 on PS5, Xbox, and PC, Collector's Edition pre-orders coming later this year
Yesterday's opening night (by the way, did you follow our live coverage?) unveiled a brand new trailer for Metro 2039, the new chapter in the acclaimed Metro series, set to release in February 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The trailer, titled "Renegade", is two minutes long and was created entirely in-engine, featuring gameplay sequences and custom footage. Presented on stage by 4A Games Executive Producer Jon Bloch and Co-Creative Director and Audio Lead Pavel Ulmer, the video delves into the dark past and mysterious identity of the new voiced protagonist, The Stranger, shown using brutal methods to infiltrate Novoreich-occupied Moscow.
The trailer showcases meticulously handcrafted environments, from the daily life of Sevastopolskaya station to the irradiated surface of Moscow, accompanied by first-person stealth gameplay made possible by the proprietary 4A Engine.
As loudly requested by fans, the first details about the Collector's Edition of METRO 2039 were also revealed. Pre-orders will be available later this year and are already shaping up to be unmissable. For the first time in the series' history, the collector's edition will include a handcrafted replica of The Stranger's battle-scarred Spartan helmet. Fans can already register their interest to be among the first to secure the edition.
