Mayday - Ryan Reynolds in Apple TV's Spy Comedy

Ryan Reynolds returns to cinema with a project completely different from what has made him a protagonist in recent years. The first trailer for Mayday teases an adventure set during the Cold War, in which his fate will fall into the hands of a former KGB agent.

Reynolds plays Troy "Assassin" Kelly, a US Navy pilot forced to survive in Soviet territory after a failed operation. His only chance comes from Nikolai Ustinov, a former Soviet secret service agent played by Branagh, a man fascinated by American culture. Amidst mutual distrust and sharp banter, an improbable collaboration is born, destined to become the core of the story.

Beyond the Iron Curtain

Mayday marks the return behind the camera for Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the directing and screenwriting duo who previously helmed Game Night and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The cast also includes Maria Bakalova, Marcin Dorociński, David Morse, Lovell Adams-Gray, Clark Johnson, Alex Mallari Jr., Louis Cancelmi, and Alex Ozerov.

Mayday will be available exclusively on Apple TV+ starting September 4. The trailer, incidentally, previews some of the film's main sequences, without revealing the plot developments.
