Marvel will return to the final days of the Multiverse preceding Secret Wars with Incursions, a series of five one-shots that will tell untold clashes from the main storyline. As explained in Marvel's official announcement, each story will pit two realities against each other with the same rule as the Incursions: only one can survive, otherwise both are destroyed.

The initiative thus revives one of the central passages of Jonathan Hickman's long run on Avengers, culminating in Secret Wars in 2015 with art by Esad Ribić. The Incursions progressively led to the collapse of the Multiverse and the destruction of the main Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe, before the birth of Battleworld. The new specials will serve to show other collisions that occurred as time was running out, traversing classic eras, alternate timelines, and Marvel adaptations born outside of comics.

The first will be X-Men: Incursions #1, out on November 18, 2026, written by Alex Paknadel and drawn by Jim Towe. The story will pit two of the X-Men's most well-known alternate realities against each other: that of House of M, dominated by mutants, and the dystopian future of Days of Future Past, controlled by Sentinels. Only eight hours remain before the annihilation of both universes, and the decision of which reality should survive will fall into the hands of Kate Pryde.

The project will continue in December with Spider-Man: Incursions #1, entrusted to Christos Gage and other authors, and Fantastic Four: Incursions #1, with Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, and Paco Medina. In January 2027, X-Men ’92: Incursions #1 will arrive, bringing Chris Yost and Craig Kyle back to the universe inspired by the nineties animated series, and Avengers: Incursions #1, created by Al Ewing and Fran Mariscal Mancilla. Marvel has not yet revealed which realities will collide in the last four specials.

For the debut, Marvel also showed covers by Gleb Melnikov and Esad Ribić, as well as a promotional image of the entire initiative signed by Bryan Hitch. Incursions therefore does not alter the path that led to Secret Wars, but returns to the empty spaces of the multiversal catastrophe, utilizing a structure that allows direct comparison of versions of Marvel history that normally could not meet.
